Christians in OSS
I have recently started a new project, as an off-shoot of the Christians in OSS blog that I was part of, also called Christians in OSS. This one, however, is a mailing list-based community of Christians who want to see Open Source Software promoted in the Church and in Christian organisations.
I started this mailing list (and site) out of the frustration of another mailing list that was supposedly for Christians using Linux to chat about Linux and OSS, but dissolved into mostly debates about theology and US politics.
This new list that I created is for chatting about using OSS in the Christian context, and only about that. My idea is that the community can chat about using Open Source Software in churches, how to install this software, ask others for advice on what software to use where, what's good or bad, etc. I've also decided to "ban" all theological and political debates, as it only seems to detract from the core focus of the community, and divides the community. To achieve these things, I've written up a Code of Conduct which folks have to agree to when they join the site and mailing list.
So, if you're interested, please join us and chat with us about Open Source Software in Churches and how to use and promote OSS in the Christian context.
